The Will Wood Webstore opened under the url willwoodandthetapeworms.bigcartel.com in April of 2016, between the release of "Everything is a Lot" and "SELF-iSH." It began in a rehearsal room at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ, and found a home in Will's parents' basement shortly after. At the time, everything was operated by Will and whoever he could ask for help, using a tiny inventory kept in a Husky bin in the laundry room.
In the nearly ten years since, the business has grown to meet demand, but always kept a very small team. While it's changed management structure, gotten in and out of a label deal, and worked with a variety of providers, it still operates with only a handful of directly involved team members. We've moved out of the basement, but are proud to still be a small team running a small business supporting independent music.
To this day, nearly all of the designs are still being created by Will Wood using a combination of hand-drawn art and digital editing and effects. Using a combination of gel pens, sharpies, and paint markers, Will draws the designs in his home studio or office, prepares them for printing, and even continues to stay involved from there at times. (We don't, however, pass messages on to him, sorry!)
Our charity focus for the past few years has been The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. The BBRF is a 100%/four-star Charity Navigator nonprofit that provides research grants in the field of mental and neurological health, and we're proud to say that in the past year alone we've been able to donate over $30,000 to their cause.
